“Hi, my name is Thales. I am study physics at university in Sao Paulo.
Yesterday one girl ask me the question: “Do you know what is AIDS?”. This question make me wonder, maybe there’s some people that don’t know what is it and don’t know that AIDS is a global reality!
If I know that is AIDS? Of course,I had one uncle that deid because of it! So, I’m here to tell you about the situation of AIDS in Brazil.
Between 1970 and 1990 AIDS spread for meny people in Brazil, because of lifestyle tht was “fashion” on the time, music like rock and roll (sex, drugs and rock and roll). But even before that AIDS already exists in Brazil, I don;t know the year that appear but it already existed.
When a lot of people begin to become ill (AIDS) the goverment took some actions like advertises, campaigns. I remember that TV commercial that appesred some cupples having sex and then after it’s over, the sex of course, the man took one gun and five the guns against the girl, in the head. After this appeared something written like “if you don’t use protection you’re killing your partner. Stop AIDS. It’s your decision”. There was this Brazilian singer, Cazuza, well, there’s movie oh his life and it’s a great movie because show the reality of it! It’s a very sad scene, Cazuza is running on the streets, cars almost hitting him, one friend of him is screaming his name and trying to help him not get hit by cars and when the friend finally gets him, hi said: “I have it…I have it…” and the friend asks: “What? What ‘s wrong Cazuza?” and the answer is “I have it…My doctor just told me…I heve AIDS. That’s it…I’m done. My life is over”. So a lot of compaigns still exist, the problem still is reak in Brazil! But it’s getting better, we’re trying to clean the mess left from the 70’s to 90’s. What I’m trying to do here is to make this situation a lettle better, how& Warning you, that’s the only thing that I can right now…
Please be carefull! Protect yourself - Protect your dreams!”
“My name is You Di. I am from Dalian, China. And now I am a student studying in Dalian University of technology.
I have been in Ukraine for 2 weeks and everything just seems so new and so exciting to me! Sometimes I can even spend all my afternoon staying in a supermarket and studying all the strange foods in it! I am so in love with this country and the people here. I sincerely want to express my thanks for this job opportunity given by AIESEC MARIUPOL! I will try my best to do my duty here and meanwhile try to learn more about life and Ukraine.
AIDS has a death rate of nearly 100%. And in Ukraine, there is almost one person carries HIV out of 100. Ukraine has become the country with the largest population in Europe. The situation of AIDS here is worth our attention indeed. We have to know more about this terrible disease. We must offer more care to the people who have got infected and living in misery.
That’s why I decide to join this project.
Imagine a kid who was born with HIV in his blood. He may not be able to enjoy having fun with other kids. He may lose his parents soon. He may stand sufferings both physically and mentally. He may have to die at the age of 6. He can never have a colorful life you and me are both enjoying.
Let’s open our arms and give them a hug.
Let’s make a difference with knowledge and love!”
“I’m Violet, I come from LC Beijing Foreign Study University AIESEC in China. Glade to see you all here. This is the first time I have a speech in front of so many foreigners. So, forgive me, I’m very nervous now. I have been Ukraine for eleven days. I like this country, really. The hostess in Kiev is so kind and even the ticket girl in Doniesk who can not speak English tried to help us to find the way by body language. And our boddies took care of us just like “mothers”. I’m sure I didn’t make a wrong choice to come here. Now let’s return to the subject. STOP AIDS! I have been caring this topic for a long time. Maybe from my junior high school. That’s why I chose to join this project. It’s a global problem. First, I want to introduce the situation about AIDS in China. The HIV virus was brought into China by some people who had been abroad in 1985. Then it spread. In October of 1989, there where 146 drug abuser being diagnosed as AIDS patients. From 1994 to now, AIDS spreads as an amazing speed. About 320,000 people had or have AIDS up till now. most of them are farmers, abroad labors, hoboes and businessmen. We all know that AIDS can be infected in three ways. Blood, unprotected sex and mother-to-fetus. In previous years the report of the infected people, men and male transmission of infection and heterosexual transmission was the proportion of infections on the rise year by year. This is the key point we should discuss. 79% patients are between 20-40. So we must protect ourselves. Don’t think AIDS is far away from you. It’s our job to STOP AIDS! Believe me, if everyone consider it in mind , AIDS is not terrible.”
